Melinda Gilhen-Baker
Director
From an English literature and communications background, Melinda has a deep love for storytelling and its ability to bring people together to rally change.
She is currently working as the Communications and Outreach Manager at the Ottawa Valley chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS-OV) after her return from working in a similar role at the National Trust in the United Kingdom.
She has travelled the world, gathering experience, insights and inspiration from different organisations and cultures, all feeding into her knowledge of environmental conservation and the importance of cultural remembrance and indigenous stewardship.
Melinda has published several scientific reviews on the vital role green spaces have on our health, most particularly old growth forests and large old trees. She currently lives in Cantley with her family and is organizing the second annual Ottawa Outdoor Film Festival to help grow a local community of nature advocates.
